The Winter Garden Heritage Foundation
“Welcome to Winter Garden!”
Upon entering the front door of the new History Research and Education Center, this is likely what you will hear. The Winter Garden Heritage Foundation’s new state-of-the-art facility, which opened in January 2015, serves as the Visitors’ Center for historic downtown Winter Garden.
In addition to welcoming visitors, the staff and volunteers working in the facility oversee the operation of the adjacent Heritage Museum (1 N. Main Street) and the Central Florida Railroad Museum (101 S. Boyd Street). The organization’s new home also provides a research library and houses a large historical collection containing local family, business, school, and church files, photographs, documents, oral interviews, objects, film, and other memorabilia important to the history of eight communities in West Orange County. Using the collection, WGHF provides exhibitions, educational programming, publications, and presentations that foster a love for the unique heritage of this area.
Commemorate your visit or show off your hometown pride with a t-shirt, tote bag, or collectible citrus crate label from the Visitors’ Center. Looking for a beautiful venue for your next special event? Heller Hall, within the building, is available to rent.
The center is open to the public everyday, 11am to 5pm, except major holidays. Research assistance is available from 1pm to 5pm, M-F. Please call 407-656-3244 to make an appointment. Admission is free, although donations are appreciated. For more info on the History Research and Education Center, museums, or WGHF programs and events, please visit www.wghf.org.
